REALTOR®
License: California DRE #01895141
Your Santa Clara County REALTOR®, Gerard Geoghegan considers the service he provides to clients as simply a normal way of doing business. His clients, however, are quick to point out that what he does goes far above and beyond expectations.
Gerard is known for his friendly, easy going manner, his patience, his market knowledge, and his professionalism. His past clients also know that behind that smile is the skilled negotiator they were glad to have had working on their behalf.
Although Gerard has lived in Santa Clara County since 1993, he grew up in a small village on the West coast of Ireland. He began his working life at the age of 12, working on masonry projects with his dad during the summers. From there he went on to masonry school and an apprenticeship in stone masonry, bricklaying, and architectural drawing.
In 1990 he was serving in the Irish Army Reserves and was being promoted to 2nd Lieutenant when he received notice that he had been granted a visa to live and work in the USA. He came to Boston and worked for a year, then returned to Ireland to complete the final year of his apprenticeship.
When he returned to the US in 1993, he immediately went to work laying block on large commercial developments in the San Jose/Bay Area. From there he moved on to more creative employment, working for a contractor who did custom masonry. Meanwhile, knowing that his goal was to become a contractor himself, he took evening classes at Heald Business College and obtained an Associate’s degree in accounting. He also decided to join the US Army Reserves as a way of giving back to the country that had welcomed him. He served from 1995 to 2003.
By now a master journeyman, Gerard started his own successful masonry company, Artisan Masonry, in 1997. Timeliness and attention to detail had been ingrained in him from early childhood. Then, as a contractor, he developed skills in marketing, negotiating, and collaborating with homeowners and other contractors to bring projects in on time.
When health issues and complications from a vehicle accident forced him to retire from masonry work, he didn’t want to merely supervise crews and do paperwork, so Gerard decided to seek a new career path. His REALTOR® suggested a career in real estate, and he followed her advice.
Today he brings his real estate clients the benefit of the traits and skills he developed as a contractor, along with his strong belief in honesty and the value of hard work. While some call him a perfectionist, Gerard says he simply believes in doing the job correctly and in getting the best deal for his buyers or sellers.
In his free time, Gerard enjoys playing golf, competing in tournaments, and exploring the countryside, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.
When you want a Santa Clara County REALTOR® who will go above and beyond to make your next real estate transaction a pleasant and successful experience, call Gerard Geoghegan. You will soon know why his past clients recommend him unconditionally.
